But this week there is finally some warm spring weather to look forward to.
However, not everywhere will be able to enjoy the sunny spells, with the east of the country expected to be hit with some wet weather.
The west will see the best of the conditions in the lead up to the weekend.
And forecasters have revealed that the mercury will rise to 21C in Oban.
A graph posted on X by the Met Office shows the temperature will peak on Thursday, May 2
It means that parts of Scotland will be hotter than Madrid which will be 14C and cloudy.
And it will even be a couple degrees warmer than Ibiza which is showing highs of 19C.
The west of the country will see the best of the weather over the coming days, with a weather front from the southeast pushing temperatures up across Scotland.
An area of low cloud across eastern areas around Edinburgh will make it feel cooler.

In Glasgow, the mercury is predicted to hit 16C despite a cloudy outlook.
The showers will end between 7pm and 10pm on Saturday, leading to some joy for a dry and slightly warmer Sunday.
The mercury will remain in single digits around 6C throughout the showery spell, with things starting to warm up on Saturday afternoon, with highs of 10C.
Far right terror threat warning as stats reveal alerts have doubled in Scotland | X062478 | 2024-05-02 06:08:01
THE threat of far-right terrorism in Scotland is "very real and growing" — with alerts doubling in two years.
The Prevent programme, aiming to safeguard people from terrorist involvement, said 26 were at high risk of influence from such ideology in 2022-23.
Far right terror threat warning as stats reveal alerts have doubled in ScotlandJames Farrell was locked up after admitting to online terrorism offences and joining a far-right group
Referrals rose from 12 in 2020-21.
Three individuals were flagged as being at risk of Islamist ideology, according to a PoliceScotland report, while 15 were categorised as "mixed, unstable or unclear".
From that, 44 people were deemed serious enough to be raised to the higher level
And dangerously, almost a third of those flagged as needing intervention were under 15 – translating to 12 kids with at least two referrals from primary-school age children.
However, it's not made clear in the report which ideology the youngsters were being associated with.
A spokesman for anti-fascist group Hope Not Hate said: "This should be a wake-up call to the Government. There must be a strategy to tackle the very real and growing threat of far-right extremism."
Sam Imrie, 26, was jailed in 2019 after posting online that he planned to set fire to Fife Islamic Centre.
Last year, James Farrell, 33, of Glasgow, was caged after admitting joining a far-right group and online terrorist offences.
Farrell joined Oaken Hearth sharing racist and neo-Nazi views with other bigots.
The 32 year-old's photos and comments included him claiming 'n*****s" were "sub-human" and also later stating: "It is about time someone firebombed a synagogue."
The ex-security guard went on to post a link to a clip on the making of "The Ultimate DIY machine pistol".
Farrell ended being held by police at his family home in Priesthill, Glasgow, following a large-scale probe into the Oaken Hearth group.
He helped get himself caught as being a member as a photo of a right wing book he had earlier posted had his dog in the background.
Farrell later stated he thought the gun clip was "edgy and cool".
The first offender pleaded guilty at the High Court in Glasgow to a charge under the Terrorism Act.
Commenting on the report, Police Scotland Assistant Chief Constable David Duncan said: "Police Scotland is focused on working in partnership to protect our communities by continuing to deliver the Prevent Strategy.
"The multi-agency approach, which promotes early intervention, will help safeguard those individuals who have been identified as susceptible to radicalisation and being drawn into terrorism or violent extremism.
"We remain committed to building strong partnerships with communities and other stakeholders to address the underlying causes fuelling radicalisation."
A Scottish Government spokesperson said: "Ministers are committed to building inclusive, resilient and safe communities, and the Scottish Government works closely with partners across the UK to prevent and tackle the threat posed by all forms of extremism."
Former Tunnock's worker jailed for running a huge cross-border drugs smuggling operation | X062478 | 2024-05-02 06:08:01
A FORMER Tunnock's worker has been jailed for running a huge drugs-smuggling operation.
Bailey Highton, 23, gave up making Caramel Wafers and Tea Cakes for the biscuit firm to traffick £3.6million worth of heroin and cocaine.

The baby-faced dealer was "very active" in Glasgow and Aberdeen and made drop-offs in London, Kent, Liverpool, Essex, Manchester and Birmingham.
He was also in contact with a druglord in Spain and Dubai.
But Highton was busted after cops in Cumbria found his fingerprints on a drugs package linked to local crime boss Robert Smith.
They found detailed records of deals on a phone and he even used his own car for smuggling.
Carlisle Crown Court heard he handled £823,805 in cash despite living in a small flat in Blantyre, Lanarkshire.
Highton's defence lawyer Andrew Evans said: "He worked at a factory in Uddingston making Tunnock's Tea Cakes."
After pleading guilty to five drugs charges he was caged for a total of seven years, 10 months.
Recorder Julian Shaw told Highton: "The sheer level and scale of the industrial supply you were engaged in was shocking."
"It was because I was nervous and I knew of the people around him and it wasn't that they were bad people, it's just that I was kind of nervous of his reputation," Cher, 77, said on Wednesday, May 1, episode of The Jennifer Hudson Show. "I'm really shy when I'm not working and kind of shy around men."
Cher, whose exes include Sonny Bono, Gene Simmons, and Val Kilmer, also explained her tendency to gravitate toward men who are younger. "The reason I go out with young men is because men my age or older — well, now they're all dead — but before they just never, they were always terrified to approach me and younger men were the only ones that …"
Jennifer Hudson interjected to note, "They're bold," while Cher replied, "Yeah, raised by women like me!"
Cher was initially spotted getting cozy with her now-boyfriend, Alexander "AE" Edwards, 38, in November 2022 after meeting at Paris Fashion Week the month before. In May 2023, Us Weekly confirmed that the pair had ended their relationship, but remained friendly.
However, they sparked reconciliation rumors in September 2023 when they both stepped out at Balmain's Paris Fashion Week presentation. After rekindling, a source told Us that the twosome are in a good place.
"Cher and AE have been back together for a while now and they're closer than ever," the insider said in October 2023. "All their friends think they are adorable together and they have amazing chemistry."
The couple have also leaned into their shared passion for music. "AE and Cher have been working on music together, and AE even helped produce her latest Christmas album [Christmas]," the source told Us. "Everybody knows Cher is a music legend, but AE's been trying to introduce her to a new sound with a little bit of New Age influence."
"Sometimes I'm talking to him and he has no idea who I'm talking about," Cher told Extra in October 2023. "The other day, I said, 'Do you know who, I don't know, Clark Gable [is]?' Somebody [else] said, 'Yes, of course,' but most of my references … He'll look at me and go, 'I wasn't born yet.'"
Tiger Woods Explains Why Golf Has 'Negative Connotation' for Daughter Sam | Q6GW27L | 2024-05-02 03:08:01

Tiger Woods' daughter, Sam, won't be following in her dad's footsteps.
"You know, when she was growing up, golf took daddy away from her," Woods, 48, told Carson Daly during a Wednesday, May 1, appearance on Today. "I had to pack and I had to leave and I would be gone for weeks, and there was a negative connotation to it."
Sam's thoughts on the sport led to the father-daughter duo bonding over other things.
"We've developed our own relationship, our own rapport, that's outside of golf. We do things that [don't] involve golf," the athlete said. "Meanwhile, my son, [Charlie], and I do everything golf-related. It's very different."
Woods shares Sam, 16, and Charlie, 15, with ex-wife Elin Nordegren. Charlie attempted to qualify for the U.S. Open late last month, but he failed to advance to the next stage after a local qualifier in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Woods told Daly, 50, that although Charlie usually listens to his golf advice, there has been "some pushback" as he gets older.
"He's 15 years old," he said. "It's what happens — it's what teenagers go through. They're trying to find their own place in the world."
Although golf isn't Sam's cup of tea, the teenager has supported her dad at numerous tournaments over the years and was present when he was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in March 2022.
"It's been at the soccer fields and golf tournaments over the years that Charlie and I have begun to realize how famous he actually is," Sam said while introducing Woods at the induction ceremony. "I mean, how can a guy who still FaceTimes his friends to discuss Marvel-DC timelines and who goes to Comic-Con dressed as Batman be one of the greatest golfers that ever lived?"

"We didn't know if you'd come home with two legs or not. Now not only are you about to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, but you're standing here on your own two feet," Sam said. "This is why you deserve this, because you're a fighter."
Woods has also overcome his rocky history with Nordegren, 44, to form a united front as coparents. The exes divorced in 2010 after Woods' highly publicized affairs with multiple women, including a full-fledged relationship with Rachel Uchitel, made headlines in 2009.
"We're able to pick up the phone, and we talk to each other all the time. … It's fun. She talks to me about her life, I talk to her about my life. We try and help each other out on all occasions," he said. "And we work through it with the kids, the parenting program. She is one of my best friends now, and it's all because of my kids."
