While supportingThe BearcostarsJon BernthalandEbon Moss-Bachrachduring the opening night ofDog Day Afternoonon Broadway, the 50-year-old actor reveals that, if he had to choose one of his former costars to star alongside him in a Broadway show, it would beEric Stonestreet.

“We have been pitched ideas before,” Ferguson tells PEOPLE. “It just never has felt right.”

Indeed, the actor previously toldWendi McLendon-Coveyduring a March 3 episode of hisDinner’s On Mepodcast that an idea was brewing for a spinoff focusing on his and Stonestreet’s characters, spouses Cameron and Mitchell, during the Covid-19 pandemic — although he wasn’t too interested in committing to the project.

"I was interested, but I was also supposed to do this play in New York,” he explained at the time. "It sort of felt like, as the reality of, maybe the spinoff was actually going to happen, I literally felt like, ‘Oh my god, I want to date other people.’ ”

Beyond his desire to work with Stonestreet, 54, again outside of theModern Familyuniverse, Ferguson goes on to emphasize to PEOPLE that he would relish the opportunity to stand alongside “any” of his former costars on a Broadway stage.

“I mean,Sarah Hyland's a beast on stage and I would love to be with her on stage too,” he says, just days after Hyland, 35, ended her run as Connie Francis in Broadway’sJust in Time. “Ty Burrell, I used to see on stage when he was starting off in his career. So yeah, I mean any of them really, but of course I'm going to say Eric.”

As for theon-set moments that make Ferguson and Stonestreet laugh to this day? During a January episode ofDinner’s On Me, the pair recalled the hysterical moment that the show’s casting director, Jeff Greenberg, walked directly into a glass wall near the show’s craft service area.

“It’s the greatest moment ever,” Stonestreet quipped at the time. “We taped off his face mark, remember? His face mark lived that whole season.”

After being reminded of the incident, Ferguson added through his laughs, "I can't believe that happened. He just walked right towards us."

UK and Norway led a military operation to deter Russian submarines in the North Atlantic

LONDON (AP) — British and Norwegian militaries led a weekslong operation to deter Russian submarines suspected of “malign activity” in the North Atlantic, the U.K. military said Thursday.

Associated Press

Defense Secretary John Healey said a frigate, planes and hundreds of personnel monitored a Russian attack sub and two spy submarines near undersea infrastructure north of the U.K. He said the Russian vessels eventually left after the operation that lasted more than a month.

Healey said his message to Russia was “we see your activity over our cables and our pipelines and you should know that any attempt to damage them will not be tolerated and will have serious consequences.”

Representatives of Norway’s defense and foreign ministries, as well as the armed forces, did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

British officials have tried to keep Russia in the international spotlight even as the world’s attention is focused on conflict in the Middle East. They have also stressed the overlap between conflicts there and in Ukraine, saying Russia has supplied Iran with drone parts and other support.

Healey told a news conference that “Putin would want us to be distracted by the Middle East,” but Russia is the main threat to the U.K. and its allies.

“We will not take our eyes off Putin,” he said.

In late March, the U.K. said its military was ready to seize ships suspected to be part of Russia’s “shadow fleet” of vessels shipping oil in violation of international sanctions over Moscow’s war on Ukraine. Previously, Britain had only helped France and the U.S. monitor ships before they were boarded.

“We are ready to take action" against the vessels, Healey said.

Lock (now Hand & Lock) artisan Peggy Umpleby undertook 007-level secrecy to hand sew the 40 feet of tulle with 10,000 mother-of-pearl sequins—going so far as topretend to takea two week vacation while privately working on the veil day and night at home.

Diana secured the veil with her family’sSpencer tiara.

Designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen and hand embroidered by the Royal School of Needlework, the tulle veil featured motifs of roses, thistles, daffodils, and shamrocks in honor of England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland respectively. She paired it withthe Cartier Halo tiara, which the future Princess of Wales borrowed from Queen Elizabeth.

In 1947,then-Princess Elizabeth wed Philip Mountbatten, the Duke of Edinburgh. Coming just two short years after the end of WWII, the floral motifs of roses, jasmine, and wheat featured in both her dress and veil (designed by Norman Hartnell, who would also later design her coronation gown) was “inspired by the sense of rebirth and renewal” according to theRoyal Collection Trust.

4) Meghan Markle

At her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry, Meghan Markle awed fans with a statement-making veil designed by Clare Waight Keller. The 16-foot-long wedding veil was worked through with flowers representing each of the 53 Commonwealth countries as well as a wintersweet flower representing Kensington Palace and a poppy representing her native California. In addition to the homage to her homes, old and new, the veil also featured a sentimental“something blue”in the form of a bit of fabric from the dress she wore on her first date with Harry.

While the future Queen Elizabeth opted for a symbolic veil for her wedding, her younger sister, Princess Margaret, took a more modern approach for her 1960 wedding to Antony Armstrong-Jones. Rather than a tiara, the veil was secured with a lace Juliet cap featuring faux blossoms.

Australian Mary Donaldson lived out many girls’ princess dreams at her royal wedding to then-Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark in 2004. While many royal ladies choose to nod to history with their veils, Mary opted for a true piece of history with hers, wearing an heirloom Irish lace veil that was first worn by Frederik’s great-grandmother Crown Princess Margaret of Sweden in 1905.

Like her late mother-in-law before her, Charlene eschewed the traditional tiara to secure the veils for her Giorgio Armani-designed gown, instead pulling her hair back with a set of diamond hair clips lent to her by Albert’s sister, Princess Caroline. The clips originally belonged to Caroline’s grandmother, Princess Charlotte. “I did have a tiara made by Van Cleef & Arpels but I decided to put it on display at the Oceanographic Museum,” Charlene toldVogueat the time of the wedding.

Lisa Kudrowrecently opened up about how she felt about working right after givingbirth. During a candid interview, the “Friends” alum shared that it was “insane” going to work after 10 days of giving birth.

She recalled the time when her son, Julian Murray Stern, was born. Everyone around her encouraged her to get back to filming, while she didn’t think it was right. For those unversed, she shares Julian with her husband, Michel Stern.

Lisa Kudrow admits returning to work 10 days after giving birth was absolutely ‘insane’

Lisa Kudrow talked about returning to work after birth in a candid conversation with CBS’s Tracy Smith. A TikTok video featured the interview, in which the 62-year-old recalled how soon she went back to filming. “I’m looking back, and I had given birth to my son, and 10 days later I was at a meeting for ‘Analyze This.’” It was a 1999 movie, also starring Billy Crystal and Robert DeNiro.

Kudrow narrated in the clip that it was May and her agent told her that the shooting would begin in “July,” so it was “no big deal.” However, things changed after the meeting, when Crystal announced the filming day.

“And then in the meeting, Billy Crystal’s saying, ‘Yeah, I mean, you look great. Are you sure you’re able to do this? When did you give birth?’ And I told him, he’s like, ‘Alright, well, we start Thursday,’” she shared.

Therefore, the actress had to fly to New York much sooner than she expected. She thought it was “insane” to return to work within a few weeks of giving birth. However, it seemed she was the only one with that thought.

In the interview, she explained that her in-laws (her husband Michel Stern’s parents) were flying from France. Her parents were also with her during her post-pregnancy phase. “Everyone around went, ‘Of course, you can do it,’ And I said, ‘But it’s wrong. I have a newborn,’” Kudrow said.

But, people around her told her that a baby nurse would go with her to New York. Furthermore, she concluded by saying that she wouldn’t do that again.

Prince Harry‘s past meeting withKanye WestandSean Diddy Combshas resurfaced amid West’s U.K. ban due to the ongoing controversy. Prince Harry’s past meeting with Kanye West and Sean Diddy Combs is back in the spotlight

Prince Harry is once again making headlines after his2007 footagewith Kanye West and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has resurfaced. In the viral clip, the Duke of Sussex is seen alongside Prince William, greeting West and Combs backstage at a charity concert held at Wembley Stadium in London to mark the 10th anniversary of the death of Princess Diana.

The younger son of King Charles has once again become talk of the town after West faced a U.K. ban. This led to thecancellation of the Wireless Festivalin Finsbury Park, where he had been due to headline. The event was scheduled to run from July 10 to 12.

Looking at how events are unfolding, a source toldRadarOnlinethat the resurfacing of the clip has amplified everyone’s interest because it “connects Harry to figures who are now deeply controversial.” The tipster added that although it was a “routine backstage moment,” due to the current scenario, the clip is now attracting various kinds of reactions from people.

According to the tipster, althoughHarryis being trolled over this footage, at the time, West and Combs’ presence “at a memorial concert was seen as a mark of respect,” asserting that no one present would have anticipated their reputations almost two decades later.

“The renewed focus on Harry isn’t about anything he did wrong – it’s more about how historical associations can be reinterpreted in light of current events. Public figures often find that past interactions resurface and are judged against today’s standards,” said the insider. They also believe the footage will continue to “haunt” Harry. Moreover, this incident shows “how quickly public perception can shift,” especially when artists “involved become subjects of wider controversy.”

Savannah Guthrie Steps In After Awkward On-Air Moment on Today

Savannah Guthriehelped in handling an awkward on-air moment on theToday show. On the April 8 episode, the co-anchors were discussing the upcoming movie, Devil Wears Prada 2. Regarded as one of the most highly anticipated fims of 2026, Guthrie’s colleague Craig Melvin couldn’t control his excitement and ended up leaking a spoiler. However, the 54-year-old broadcaster stepped in to ease the tension.

Savannah Guthrie helped ease the tension after Today co-host leaked a spoiler

Savannah Guthrie’s co-anchor, Craig Melvin, leaked aThe Devil Wears Prada 2spoiler on the Today Show. During the Wednesday episode, the panel was talking about the forthcoming film starring Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep. Melvin accidentally spilled the beans about his colleague, Jenna Bush Hager (JBH), being part of the movie.

“By the way, you know how [I know] that movie’s going to be good? You know how I can tell? JBH is in it,” he enthusiastically said. As soon as he took her name, the camera showed Hager. With her jaw dropping on the floor, she looked shocked and commented, “I don’t know that you were supposed to drop that bomb.”

Guthrie didn’t waste time to help lighten the situation. Referring to her co-anchor, she playfully remarked, “This is why you cannot tell Craig anything!” Meanwhile, Melvin couldn’t seem to take back his words. Hence, he tried to defend himself by saying that he thought Hager’s appearance in the movie was “common knowledge.” Guthrie shook her head and said, “No!”

Melvin then apologized for leaking a spoiler, while the recently returned journalist didn’t lose a chance to pull his legs. She quipped. “Why don’t you read my journal, while you’re at it?” Meanwhile, Hager’s role in The Devil Wears Prada 2 still seems to be under wraps. The sequel to the 2006 hit is set to be released on May 1, 2026.

Japan Mount Fuji Cherry Blossom Woes

Social media was soon awash with the lovely view of Japan's snow-cappedMount Fujilooming over a red pagoda and the short-livedcherry blossomsthat herald the approach of spring.

Tourists wanting a similar shot soon packed this peaceful town at the foot of the mountain. The complaints were not far behind: chronic traffic jams; piles of litter; ill-mannered foreigners knocking on doors of private homes to borrow toilets; tourists relieving themselves in front yards.

It got so bad officials in Fujiyoshida announced in February that they were canceling this year’s annual cherry blossom festival, which started as a way to promote tourism a decade ago.

What locals are calling “tourism pollution” has illuminated a broader problem for Japan: As the country's economic malaise deepens, officials are eager for the economic boost of increased tourism, even as local communities find themselves entirely unprepared for what a small army of foreign visitors means for their communities.

10,000 tourists a day 'threaten residents' daily lives'

“This area is primarily an ordinary residential neighborhood, where balancing (tourism) with the safety of people's living environment has become difficult,” Masatoshi Hada, manager of the Fujiyoshida Economics and Environment Department, told The Associated Press. “We decided not to promote a festival that would invite more visitors.”

Even without the festival, foreign tourists packed the area on a sunny day in early April whencherry blossomsreached their prime. The narrow streets up to the popular Arakurayama Sengen Park were filled as the visitors lined up for a chance film the world-famous panoramic views.

In recent years, foreign tourists have exceeded 10,000 per day in the area, something that has “threatened residents’ daily lives,” the city said in a statement in February.

‘Tourism pollution’ across Japan

Overtourism has also been seen in other popular destinations in Japan, like Kyoto and Kamakura. In Kyoto, locals complain of tourists with large suitcases clogging city buses.

“Tourism pollution” comes as Japan confronts a rapidly growing population of foreign workers brought in as the country's population dwindles and ages. The combination has led toxenophobia, and Prime MinisterSanae Takaichi’s nationalistic government has proposed tougher rules on foreigners.

Even as it promises to address overtourism concerns, the government wants to boost the current level of 40 million inbound tourists to 60 million visitors by 2030.

Locals find the tourism ‘good but annoying’

Beginning April 1, at the start of the region’s cherry blossom season, Fujiyoshida increased its security guards and restricted entry of tour buses and vehicles into the scenic neighborhood, requiring visitors to reach the park on foot.

On a recent day, security guard Hiroaki Nagayama gestured to passersby so they would stay out of busy areas. He asked tourists to throw cigarette butts in designated places and tried to help the lost.

“I’m struggling. I cannot communicate with them in Japanese. Some people buy food at stalls and leave litter behind,” Nagayama says. “I think what’s happening here is a typical example of overtourism.”

Sitting on a bench outside his house just a couple of blocks away, Hitoshi Mori, 93, says having many visitors is “good but annoying.”

“It’s too crowded outside so I can only get groceries once a week and stock up on food,” he says.

Tourists enjoy the view and culture, despite crowds

Tourists, meanwhile, seem delighted by the spectacular view, despite many signs popping up that order them to behave better. There are also hours-long lines to get to cherished scenic spots.

“It’s pretty (well) organized. When they let you come in, you have like five minutes to take as many pictures as you can, and it was amazing,” said Lisa Goerdert from Paris.

Vicky Tran, who came from Melbourne, Australia, with her family and friends, said they could not go all the way up to see the pagoda with Mount Fuji and the cherry blossoms, because it was too crowded. Still, she said she enjoyed the view and the neighborhood.

Overtourism dividing residents

The overtourism has opened divisions between residents who want quiet and those who have started businesses using their yards to operate toll parking or setting up new shops or food stalls.

In a nearby shopping arcade that once had many closed mom-and-pop shops, business has picked up after another viral social media shot showed Mount Fuji looming over the street.

Throngs of tourists stand in the street to take photos of Mount Fuji, often blocking traffic, with frustrated vehicles honking.

The sudden flood of visitors is a huge change “for people like us who are used to a quiet suburban lifestyle,” says Masami Nakamura, who runs a decades-old school uniform shop with her husband. “I only hope the tourists respect our rules and manners.”

The crowds are a big change even for those who are seeing increased business.

“I once almost hit a tourist who jumped into the street without looking,” said Kyoko Funakubo, a 60-year-old employee at a local hotel and a part-time vendor selling Fuji-themed souvenirs. “This place used to be almost abandoned, with many shuttered shops. But now, with many stores reopened or new shops that have opened, I feel good seeing this area come alive again.”
