The 55-year-old broadcaster is among a number of female journalists who failed to land a chief presenter role when the BBC merged its international and domestic news channels last year, and are now alleging that management had already predetermined potential candidates before the hiring process even began.
Croxall, who has been taken off air for over a year, was joined by BBC stars Karin Giannone, Kasia Madera and Annita McVeigh for a two-day preliminary hearing on Wednesday.
The presenters have argued that they were forced off air for a year and claimed they were harassed because of a 'rigged' recruitment process, Deadline reports.
Sharing their witness statements to the tribunal, the women called the hiring process a 'sham' and said it caused them to suffer age and sex discrimination, as well as equal pay concerns and harassment including a 'hostile, degrading, intimidating environment in the workplace'.
The publication notes that Croxall told the tribunal that 'discrimination is baked into BBC pay structures', and that the BBC 'grinds you down' and 'breaks you' during equal pay disputes.

The women also claimed they had suffered 'negative physical and mental health impacts' and said they had reports from clinical psychologists.
In 2020 a London employment tribunal found that Ahmed should have been paid the same as fellow presenter Jeremy Vine for their work on Newswatch and Points Of View respectively.
The BBC had argued the pair were not doing similar work, after she asked why she was paid £495 per episode of Newswatch while Vine earned £3,000 for each instalment of Points of View.
Broadcaster Sarah Montague also previously confirmed she had won a £400,000 settlement and an apology from the BBC over unequal treatment.

In 2021 the BBC disclosed it had spent more than £1million on legal fees fighting equal pay and race discrimination cases brought by staff.
The tribunal on Wednesday comes after Croxall seemingly confirmed her return to screens, having given her final bulletin on March 31, 2023, saying it had been 'the greatest privilege'.
She took to X with a since-deleted post last week, saying: 'Piloting in my happy place, Studio E.'
She then told one follower that her return 'should be May 22'.

The Frasier episode banned from early mornings on Channel 4 | RA5Z22I | 2024-05-01 21:08:01
Frasier ran for 11 seasons before ending in 2004 (Picture: NBC)
You'd think that, after airing daily in the UK for years, we've seen every single morsel of Frasier from the archives – but it turns out that one particular episode has been 'banned' on Channel 4.
It currently airs on weekday mornings in the UK, but fans have spotted that season 11 instalment High Holidays, is always skipped without notice.
In the episode in question, Niles (David Hyde Pierce) is upset that he didn't rebel as a teenager and buys a weed brownie to make up for this.
However, his dad, Martin (John Mahoney) accidentally eats the treat himself before replacing it with a normal brownie – unwittingly getting stoned in the process.
Believing he's high on drugs, but actually totally sober, Niles turns up at Frasier's flat where he attempts to let loose and enjoy the 'munchies' – and the 'sweet nectar of rebellion'
Instead, he meets a baffled Martin, who goes wild raiding the snack cupboard and inventing 'fridge pants'.
Connecting the dots, it's down to the radio psychiatrist to put an end to the shenanigans by getting his dad to bed, and telling his brother that he is most definitely not stoned.
Channel 4 has not shared the reason behind the ban, but it could be down to scenes depicting drug use.
The episode has gone down as a firm favorite with most fans, but some have voiced their confusion about why it doesn't regularly air in the UK – but is able to stream on demand.
Martin came up with a genius idea for 'barbecue pudding chips and fridge pants' (Picture: NBC)
Taking to the program's dedicated Reddit page, Eppinizer fumed: 'I would have never imagined that Frasier of all shows would be censored.'
OK_Cranberry shared: 'They never show the pot brownies one. Not seen that one for a long time.'
Stirccrazed suggested: 'They don't usually show High holidays – the one where Freddie is a goth. Probably not allowed with the drug references at that time in the morning.
'But, they've got the whole series on All4 (or whatever they're calling it now), so you could use that to fill in your gaps.'
'I saw the episode this week for the first time. It did surprise me that I'd found a rare unwatched episode but now I wonder if it just wasn't there and available before. Channel 4, U.K,' DogTakeMeForAWalk added.
Kelsey Grammer recently reprised his role as Frasier Crane (Picture: NBC)
After 11 years and 37 Emmy wins, Frasier officially ended in May, 2004 – but Kelsey recently reprised his role at the end of last year for a divisive reboot.
Despite some negative reviews, the Simpsons icon confessed that he felt 'vindicated' when it was announced that the series had been picked up for a second season.
'It feels great, it feels great,' he recently told People Magazine of the news. 'There was a sense of, I'm trying to think of the right word, vindication.
'In my heart, I thought, "I know we can do this and I know we can do it really well." And I didn't want to do what some of the other shows had done, sort of come back and be the same show. I thought this all played exactly how it was meant to be.
'And Frasier's still alive, and he has a new story to tell and a new series of people to do it with, and it's been fantastic.'
Metro.co.uk has contacted Channel 4 for a comment.

This Oscar-winning Disney 00s movie almost had a pivotal scene cut | RA5Z22I | 2024-05-01 21:08:01
The animation studios were concerned they had made 'first bad movie' before re-edit (Picture: Disney/Pixar)
Finding Nemo has long been considered an animated masterpiece, but the iconic opening scene looked very different until a last-minute change of heart.
The 2003 Disney Pixar film moved countless viewers to tears when single-finned clownfish Nemo (Alexander Gould) is kidnapped and his coddling father Marlin (Albert Brooks) undertakes a panicked oceanwide rescue mission with the help of the forgetful Dory (Ellen DeGeneres).
But it wouldn't have been the same without the memorable first scene that kicks off many years prior where killer fish brutally murders Nemo's mother and all their children, bar him. All that's left? Marlin and baby Nemo against the world.
The tragic backstory follows the blueprint for many Disney and Pixar staples such as Bambi, Up, Lion King and Coco which all feature grief and loneliness in some form.
Although only a few minutes, the vital scene laid the context for the high stakes across the rest of the Oscar-winning movie.
But now Pixar animator Jason Deamer has admitted the 'heartwrenching' flashback was originally chopped into tiny bits to scatter throughout the film.
Alexander Gould played the eponymous Nemo (Picture: Getty)
Deamer recalled: 'We all went to the last screening before it was going to be finished and we all walked out the theater and no one was saying anything… [We thought] "Did we just just make our first bad movie?".'
'We were a little concerned,' he added to Unilad. Luckily, acclaimed editor Lee Unkrich stepped in and 'recut' all the flashbacks into our now-familiar opening sequence.
Unkrich has worked on several beloved Disney Pixar films over the years including the popular Toy Story quartet.
Nemo and Marlin are left all alone after the tragic opener (Picture: Rex/Shutterstock)Albert Brooks, meanwhile, played Nemo's worried dad Marlin (Picture: Getty)
According to Deamer, the 11th-hour switch 'made the whole thing work' and crucially prevented Marlin from coming across as 'an overprotective, annoying character'.
'It was the same footage. We didn't animate anything new,' Deamer emphasised. '[Unkrich] just told the audience that [backstory] sooner. I know it's heart-wrenching, but otherwise you just didn't empathise with [Marlin's] over protective behaviour.'
But contrary to their worries, the film proved itself a critical and box office success. In fact it became one of the biggest global releases of the year, totting up almost $1billion (£800million) by the end of its theatrical release.
Ellen Degeneres was part of the star-studded cast as ocean companion Dory (Picture: Getty)Willem Dafoe was the voice of the mysterious Gill (Picture: Getty)
No surprise it swooped up Academy awards, Baftas and Critics Choice awards and nominations to spare.
It's hard to imagine a version of the beginning of the film without the moving swell of the soundtrack as Marlin picks up a tiny Nemo and emotionally proclaims: 'I promise I'll never let anything happen to you'.
So if you were looking for an excuse to rewatch the cinematic classic here it is. Grab that box of tissues and relive the magic.
Finding Nemo is available to stream on Disney+.

TV weatherman allegedly fired over 'anger management issues' after 'warnings' | RA5Z22I | 2024-05-01 21:08:01
Good Morning America weatherman Rob Marciano has reportedly been fired (Picture: Walt Disney Television)
TV weatherman Rob Marciano has reportedly been fired over behavioural misconduct.
The Good Morning America meteorologist was taken off air two years ago for anger management issues, it's been claimed.
It's said he was 'banned' for the studio after an incident with a female colleague, with claims he made multiple colleagues 'feel uncomfortable'.
Marciano, 56, has been appearing on the ABC News programme and World News Tonight for more than a decade, but he's now been fired, sources say.
Sources told The New York Post he was fired on Tuesday for 'anger management issues'.
His last report was days ago on April 28, and he has yet to speak out about the claims.
He has however been reposting ABC News content on his Instagram stories as recently as yesterday.
In March 2023, it was claimed Marciano was 'punished', with sources telling Page Six: 'He was found to have done something … that was improper, but he was punished for it, and they still haven't let him return.'
The TV personality has been with ABC for 10 years (Picture: Disney General Entertainment Con)
While it's unclear what transpired between Marciano and the unnamed colleague, another source said there were 'a number of alarming events' and that he 'made people feel uncomfortable'.
An insider continued: 'There were times when [Marciano] was very cranky and angry … unsavoury behavior on his part.
'He was pulled off to deal with it and he's been back.'
It's said he had been dealing with anger management issues while going through a divorce from his wife Eryn, who he shares two children with and was married to for 11 years.
The journalist previously appeared on CNN Worldwide and on Entertainment Tonight, before moving to ABC in 2014.

In September, Marciano shared a lengthy post to Instagram celebrating a decade with ABC News.
He wrote: 'This month marks the start of my 10th year with ABC News, and I couldn't be more pumped to continue this journey with all of you.
'I always dreamed of working for this network as a kid, and my children are equally psyched that I will now be home most weekends!
'I'll continue doing what I'm doing, contributing across all ABC shows and platforms Mon-Fri, while getting more quality time with my kiddos on the weekends :)
'My thanks to the bosses who listened and made this work-life balance possible.
'I'm also grateful for an exciting new project with NatGeo that has me exploring some very very cool stuff… more to come!'
ABC News declined to comment, Metro.co.uk has also approached Rob Marciano's reps for comment.

The English singer will be hoping to secure a win for the UK for the first time in 27 years. And, luckily for Olly, he's guaranteed a place in the final.
A few other European countries also get entry into the final as a given – but why?
Who are Eurovision's Big Five?
The UK, along with France, Germany, Italy and Spain, form the group known as the Big Five.
They are the five countries whose broadcasters make the biggest financial contribution to the production of the Eurovision Song Contest, which is organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).
Olly Alexander is hoping to win Eurovision for the UK this year (Picture: Joseph Okpako/WireImage)
This hasn't always been the case, however, and originally the Big Five were actually the Big Four.
The rule was first introduced in 2000, and the countries that automatically qualified back then were the UK, France, Germany and Spain.
The group didn't become the Big Five until Italy joined in 2011.
Despite being one of the countries to compete in the first-ever contest in 1956, Italy withdrew from the competition without explanation in 1997 and did not return until 2011, when it became one of the Big Five.
Why do the Big Five automatically reach the Eurovision final?
Because the Big Five make the biggest financial contribution towards Eurovision, their acts get fast-tracked to the final.
The country that won the previous year and is the current host also automatically joins the grand final alongside the Big Five.
For 2024, this means that the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Spain alongside Sweden have a place in the Eurovision final.
Sweden qualifies for the Eurovision final as this year's host country (Picture: Laurie Dieffembacq/ Belga/AFP via Getty Images)
This year will be a bit different, however. For the first time, the Big Five and hosts Sweden will perform their entries in full in the Eurovision semi-finals.
This means we'll see Olly Alexander performing the UK's song Dizzy during the first semi-final on Tuesday 7 May. The additional performances will be slotted between the acts of those who don't automatically qualify.
Germany and Sweden will also perform on Tuesday 7 May, while France, Italy and Spain will perform in the second semi-final on Thursday 9 May.
As usual, the Big Five will not be competing for votes, though they do each get to cast a vote in one of the semi-finals.
Eurovision 2024 odds
Most bookmakers currently favour Switzerland to win the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest.
Their act, Nemo, has been given a 24% chance of winning the grand final by Eurovision World.

Other favourites include Croatia, Italy, Netherlands, Ukraine and France respectively.
William Hill spokesperson Lee Phelps previously told Yahoo:'Switzerland continue to gather momentum ahead of next weekend's Eurovision Song Contest and find themselves 2/1 to win their third Eurovision title.
'Croatia have likewise made positive moves having narrowed from 4/1 to 7/2 in recent weeks and will most likely be the Swiss' closest challengers when contestants take to the stage in Malmo.
'It's, however, bad news for the United Kingdom, who were considered one of the favourites when the market first opened but continue to drift in price, now trading at 40/1.'
The Eurovision Grand Final airs on Saturday 11 May.
X Factor legend hasn't aged a day 19 years after controversial exit | RA5Z22I | 2024-05-01 21:08:01
Maria Lawson still works in the entertainment industry(Picture: Maria Lawson/Instagram)
It has been nearly 20 years since Maria Lawson competed on The X Factor – but you wouldn't know it.
The singer, now 44, has barely aged since she reached the live rounds of the ITV show, under the guidance of Sharon Osbourne, before controversy struck.
Maria had been an early favourite in the show but was booted out in the fifth week of the live shows in a shock elimination.
She landed in the bottom two with The Conway Girls, although received double the amount of public votes, but the judges ultimately saved the girl group.
Predictably Simon Cowell voted to save his act, The Conway Girls, while Sharon backed Maria.
However, in a move that sparked national outcry Louis Walsh cast his vote for The Conway Girls, who were Irish, with Sharon accusing him of 'voting with his passport.'
She was mentored by Sharon on The X Factor, which was presented by Kate Thornton (Picture: Ken McKay/REX/Shutterstock)She now also works as an actress on TV series and theatre productions (Picture: Maria Lawson/Instagram)
The fallout and backlash over Louis' decisions was so intense that the music manager even threatened to quit the X Factor.
While Maria's exit from the show was deemed premature by many, she was swiftly offered record deals by four major labels.
The following year she released her debut self-titled album, which sold 20,000 copies in the UK.
She also signed a deal with lingerie giant Bravissimo and starred in the West End hit musical Thriller Live.

Now she lives in the US with her children, and is an actress, singer, songwriter and voiceover artist.
Her acting credits include TV series The Equalizer, I Am Homicide, Killision Course and Love Soup.
On the stage, Maria toured around the US in a production of Saturday Night Fever.
Fans will also recognise Maria's speaking voice as she is the narrator for the Bingo Gala advert.

Maria's series of the X Factor was eventually won by Shayne Ward.
She had auditioned the year before but was rejected by Simon at the bootcamp stage, a decision he later said he regretted.
Before the X Factor, Maria was signed to management firm and music publishing company.
During that time, she worked as a singer-songwriter with the likes of Gabrielle, performing on her hit single Out of Reach which was featured on the Bridget Jones's Diary soundtrack.

Cameron Diaz shocked fans when she revealed that she rarely washes her face (pictured in 2022)[/caption]
"I literally do nothing," she said, according to Women's Health.
"I like never wash my face…. Twice a month, if I'm lucky, I'll be like, 'Oh, I better put this on. One time works, right?'"
Healthline previously spoke to experts who say every person should wash their face both morning and night.
However, if you can only commit to washing once a day it's best to do nightly to help remove grime and oil built up during the day.
Cameron said that stepping back from her acting career made her put less focus on her appearance.
"I'm like a wild animal, like a beast. I don't care," she said.
"Literally the last thing I think about on a daily basis — like maybe not at all during the day — is what I look like."
MAKEUP
"After the years of having to wear it, I love makeup as a fun little touch," Cameron told Goop.
"Merit makes absolutely beautiful things, like my favorite lipstick, their Signature Lip in Cabo, which is just bright and light and effortless.
"And Gucci Westman's highlight is so pretty, and her lip palettes are amazing, in every shade."

She began by applying Merit's Minimalist Perfecting Complexion Stick, which can be used as a foundation or concealer.
"I'm using the ochre, the yellowness of it cancels all my redness," she said.
The $38 complexion stick is available on the Merit website in a wide variety of colors.

She used a large makeup brush to blend Merit's Flush Balm Cream Blush in the shade Raspberry Beret to her cheeks and used the same product on her lips.
The look was completed with Merit Beauty Clean Lash Lengthening Mascara and Merit Beauty Brow 1980 Volumizing Pomade.
HAIR
Cameron's hairstylist, Lona Vigi, uses OriginalMineral Frizzy Logic Shine Serum to tame her flyways, according to Elle.
Having flat-ironed her glossy blonde locks, Lona rubs a dime-sized amount of the product in her hands before patting it onto Cameron's hair.
OriginalMineral sells the serum which contains organic argan oil and native Australian macadamia oil for $70.
Celebrity hairstylist Ben Skervin demonstrated how he created Cameron's beachy waves for her appearance on the cover of InStyle in a YouTube video.

He added a foaming mouse to damp hair before blow-drying in sections to get his desired texture.
He then applied a holding spray to each section before creating waves with a medium-sized curling iron.
"Then I'm going to use one of my favorite products that I love," he said.
"It's a dry shampoo for blondes and what it does is just give the hair a little bit more guts and just deconstructs the hair a little bit too."
FITNESS
Cameron has co-written two tomes focused on health and wellness, The Body Book and The Longevity Book.
Amazon shoppers have given both books a 4.4-star rating and penned rave reviews about how it encouraged them to take care of themselves.
The actress took to Instagram at the time of The Longevity Book's release saying that she wanted to spark change.

"I am so proud of this book and very much looking forward to engaging us all in a new conversation about aging — how to do it with strength, grace, health, and wisdom," she said.
Cameron goes to the gym with her trainer Teddy Bass almost every day, where they do varied strength training, HITT, and pilates.
"Some days I go to the gym for literally 10 minutes," she told Self. "But the fact that I got up and got there matters to me.
"Because at the end of all of this, I want to be able to say, 'I did the best I could.'
"It's not about having a ripped stomach. It's about taking care of myself."
DIET
Cameron has had an enviably slender physique throughout her years in the spotlight.
However, she confessed in her book that she previously struggled with body positivity.
"I did not like my body when I was a kid," she wrote, according to Marie Claire.
"I was all skin and bones, all arms and legs. I was really, really skinny, and the other kids let me have it because of that.
"I hated being skinny. Being made fun of feels terrible, no matter what the reason is, no matter who you are."

The actress is now mindful of what she eats and said in a Goop interview that intermittent fasting helps her stay on track with her nutrition.
"Doing a little reset kind of brings you back," she said.
"It helps you be more present in the moment, staying aware of what you're saying and what you're doing."
The actress starts her day by drinking a big glass bottle of water that has been put on her bathroom counter the night before.
She follows a Mediterranean-style diet and revealed to Bon Appetit that she has two protein-rich breakfasts.
"At my first breakfast, I just put something in my stomach before my workout — usually scrambled eggs, toast, an avocado, an apple with almond butter, overnight oats, or a piece of chicken," Cameron said.
"It's just enough to kick things into gear. Then I work out.
"After that, at second breakfast, I joke that I eat dinner for breakfast. It's a full meal with chicken, grains, and sautéed or roasted vegetables."
