Yahoo Sports Staff Updated Tue, November 3, 2026 at 12:19 AM UTC About Our Ads Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Week 8 of the 2026 NFL season is nearly a wrap, with just the Chicago Bears and Seattle Seahawks left to play on "Monday Night Football."
There was plenty of excitement on Sunday, including two games that went into overtime, but they unfortunately weren't without injuries. Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson made his return to the lineup after rehabbing an ankle injury, but that excitement was short-lived, as he suffered a thumb injury on his first pass attempt of the game. Per head coach Jesse Minter, he'll require surgery and a stint on the injured reserve list — a brutal blow.
Backup Tyler Huntley is also dealing with what is thought to be a turf toe injury , which forced Baltimore to resort to their emergency third quarterback, Joe Fagnano. He completed 10-of-21 passes for 91 yards and an interception in relief of Jackson and Huntley this week.
The Ravens are playing on a short week, as they're set to host the Jacksonville Jaguars on "Thursday Night Football" in Week 9.
The Detroit Lions handed the Minnesota Vikings their first loss of the season, but lost a key playmaker on defense as All-Pro linebacker Jack Campbell suffered a scary-looking neck injury. He was immobilized on a backboard before being transported to the hospital as his teammates gathered around him in an emotional scene.

A pair of Cowboys defensive backs are now in concussion protocol, and linebacker Malachi Lawrence is dealing with an ankle injury.
It's unlcear how long any of them will be sidelined just yet.
Cardinals wide receiver Kendrick Bourne sustained a fractured tibia during Sunday's win over the Cowboys, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports .
The injury will end Bourne's season. It won't require surgery, per the report.
In eight games this season, Bourne has 26 catches for 263 yards with no touchdowns.
Cardinals rookie Jeremiyah love seemingly can't catch a break on the injury front, with head coach Mike LaFleur telling reporters on Monday that the rookie has suffered another ankle injury.
Love missed multiple preseason games with a high right ankle sprain, and missed two games last month with a left ankle injury. However, LaFleur said that the injury Love sustained on Sunday was a new injury, not a re-aggravation of one of his previous knocks.
"This is new, so this is not the left ankle or the right ankle, it's a new portion of the ankle," LaFleur said.
Love exited Sunday's win over the Cowboys after his ankle got rolled under his body on a tackle in the first half. The rookie running back was able to walk to the sideline but slammed his helmet down, clearly frustrated, before heading into the locker room; he did not return to the game.
LaFleur said that he'll give reporters more information on Wednesday, adding that he wanted to get a chance to talk to Love first.
Myles Garrett will return to practice for the Los Angeles Rams this week. Head coach Sean McVay announced the news to reporters Monday.
Garrett's played just one game for the Rams since the blockbuster offseason trade that sent him to Los Angeles from the Cleveland Browns. He underwent knee surgery after struggling to make an impact in the Rams' season-opening loss to the 49ers in Australia and has been sidelined since.
Garrett's planned return to practice doesn't mean he'll be ready to play Sunday against the Washington Commanders. But it's a positive sign for his return to the playing field.
His return to practice from injured reserve opens a 21-day window for Garrett to be elevated to the active roster or placed on season-ending injured reserve.
Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni spoke to the media on Monday. He said he isn't making a change at offensive coordinator, and Sean Mannion will remain in the role.
Philly has lost six straight games. The Eagles took a 10-0 lead over the Commanders on Monday night, but Washington scored 27 consecutive points to win.
Injuries are piling up for Philadelphia. The Eagles are expected to be without starting quarterback Jalen Hurts for the remainder of the season, leaving Tanner McKee currently under center. Saquon Barkley has been nursing a hamstring injury, and Philly was without DeVonta Smith on Monday night.
Arizona Cardinals head coach Mike LaFleur wasn't ready to commit to a starting quarterback on Sunday afternoon, even if his backup just led them to a wild overtime win against the Dallas Cowboys .
But just 24 hours after that victory, he made the move. Gardner Minshew is their starter moving forward.
LaFleur opted to bench Jacoby Brissett for Minshew on Sunday afternoon at AT&T Stadium, a decision that eventually led to their 33-30 overtime win against the Cowboys. LaFleur declined to commit to either quarterback when asked directly after the game, even though the expectation was that Minshew would remain in the role.
"I'm just excited about this win right now," he said, via ESPN .
Now, Minshew will get the start against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. Carson Beck will serve as his backup, and Brissett will be the team's third-string quarterback.
The Baltimore Ravens are in need of at least one more quarterback and now have one on their practice squad. They signed Austin Reed to their practice squad on Monday.
All-Pro starter Lamar Jackson left Sunday's loss to the Buffalo Bills with a thumb injury that will require surgery and a stint on injured reserve. It's not yet clear if the injury is season-ending.
Backup Tyler Huntley suffered a toe injury in the same game that sidelined him before halftime. His prognosis was not yet clear as of Monday afternoon. Third-string emergency quarterback Joe Fagnano finished the 36-10 loss for the Ravens. He completed 10 of 21 passes for 91 yards with an interception and no touchdowns.
Reed, 26, has never thrown an NFL pass. He played two seasons at Western Kentucky in 2022 and 2023 and spent part of training camp this summer with the Ravens.
The Ravens are facing a short with with a Thursday night game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Micah Parsons will be back at Packers practice this week in a significant step in his return from a torn ACL.
Head coach Matt LaFleur announced the news on Monday. It remains unclear when Parsons will make his 2026 season debut.
Parsons tore his left ACL and damaged his meniscus in Week 15 last season against the Denver Broncos on Dec. 14. His return to the field is taking longer than anticipated.
There were reports that Parsons and the Packers were targeting a potential Week 6 return against his former Dallas Cowboys. It's now Week 9.
The Packers are off to a 5-3 start without Parsons, which has them in last place in a competitive NFC North behind the 6-1 Vikings and 5-2 Lions and Bears. The Packers are hoping the eventual return of their All-Pro pass rusher can help propel them to the playoffs.
Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell told reporters that quarterback Kyler Murray is dealing with hamstring soreness.
When asked whether Murray's injury could affect his availability for next Monday's game against the Bills, O'Connell said , "I don't think we're there yet."
Colts head coach Shane Steichen says the team won't be making a change at quarterback this week, The Athletic's James Boyd reports .
Jones has struggled this season coming off a torn Achilles that ended his 2025 season and was eventually pulled in the fourth quarter in Week 8's loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, relieved by QB2 Anthony Richardson.
Jones completed 19 of 28 pass attempts for 144 yards, 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions in the loss.
He added that Jones gives the team "the best chance to win right now," and winning is something they desperately need to do — especially if Steichen hopes to continue as the team's head coach.
They find themselves at 2-6 and have traded away two foundational players in OG Quenton Nelson and DT DeForest Buckner.
Bucs linebacker YaYa Diaby has a grade 2 MCL sprain and is expected to miss multiple weeks, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports . He sustained his injury in Sunday's win over the Falcons.
Diaby has 3 sacks, 16 tackles and 6 tackles for loss in eight starts this season.
The Jacksonville Jaguars could be without defensive tackle DaVon Hamilton the rest of the way. The team reportedly fears Hamilton will miss the rest of the season after sustaining a torn quad in Week 8, per NFL Network.
Hamilton was injured during the team's blowout win over the Indianapolis Colts. He needed to be carted off the field due to a leg injury.
The 29-year-old has spent his entire career with the Jaguars and has started every single game for the team this season. He'll be a free agent at the end of the year, so the injury could represent the end of his time in Jacksonville.
Arizona Cardinals head coach Mike LaFleur isn't ready to commit to a starting quarterback just yet, even if his backup just led them to a wild overtime win against the Dallas Cowboys .
LaFleur opted to bench Jacoby Brissett for Gardner Minshew on Sunday afternoon at AT&T Stadium, a decision that eventually led to their 33-30 overtime win against the Cowboys.
While the expectation is that Minshew will remain the team's starter moving forward, according to ESPN's Josh Weinfuss , LaFleur declined to commit to that when asked directly after the game.
"I'm just excited about this win right now," he said, via ESPN .
Though LaFleur was vague, Minshew should get the start against the Seattle Seahawks next Sunday unless something changes in the next few days.
Josh Jacobs has denied any wrongdoing after three other women contacted police to report abuse allegations against him while the Green Bay Packers running back was being investigated for a different incident earlier this year.
Jacobs' attorneys issued a statement on Sunday afternoon denying all three additional abuse allegations that were made against him, and said that he has "a substantial body of tangible evidence to back up his assertions."
"The three accounts are old, are hearsay and easily disproven, yet released to the media by police without any investigation to determine whether they were accurate or contradicted by evidence," his attorneys said, via the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. "Josh is answering them in detail because of the character assassination that is occurring, unfairly threatening his career."
