The Raptors announced Tuesday that Leonard has " successfully completed treatment to address left knee swelling " and has begun his return to play process in Toronto. The team will provide another update on his progress in a week.
The exact nature of the treatment is unknown.
Leonard has played only two games this season due to a knee injury, with his timetable set at three to four weeks in late October . The 35-year-old has a considerable history of knee injuries in his career, though primarily in his right knee.
In his absence, the Raptors have gone 2-3, most recently beating his former team, the Los Angeles Clippers, in a 125-118 comeback win on Monday. Next up is a road date with the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday, followed by an NBA Cup game against the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday.
This season is Leonard's first back since a championship-winning one year stint with the Raptors 2018-19. The seven-time All-Star joined the Raptors via a trade that sent Brandon Ingram, Gradey Dick and five draft picks to the Clippers, who were pummeled with unprecedented NBA sanctions over their handling of Leonard.
